HEAR HISTORY COME ALIVE!

Experience Domingo’s debut in the role that would become one of his greatest successes  both in the United States and internationally!  To commemorate the 50th anniversary of Plácido Domingo’s first appearance in New Orleans, VAI and New Orleans Opera Association are proud to release a recording of one of the legendary nights in New Orleans Opera history: Plácido Domingo’s debut performance in the role of Manrico in Verdi’s masterpiece Il trovatore, recorded live in New Orleans in 1968. For years, opera fans have been asking for this recording to be added to the New Orleans Opera Archives, and it is finally here. This is Il trovatore as you’ve never heard it before, with the extraordinary Montserrat Caballé in the role of Leonora and conducted by Knud Andersson.   A bonus third disc is “Domingo in New Orleans,” featuring scenes from Lucia, Andrea Chenier, and Tosca. Specially priced 3-CD set.
