The New Orleans Jazz Market

Join Charlie Parker’s final quest to write–even after death–a large-scale masterpiece as his fascinating but troubled life is revisited by the ghosts of his illustrious past: wives, celebrated colleagues, his mother, and intimate friends. All join to retell their dramatic incidents of this legendary jazz titan, hailed as the greatest saxophone virtuoso in history, as he prepares for the afterlife. Birdland, New York City’s most famous jazz club, is just one enduring monument to his enormous talent. His own credo is the best testament to this gloriously original musician whose virtuosity is credited with individually creating a whole new jazz idiom: Bebop.

“Music is your own experience, your thoughts, your wisdom. If you don’t live it, it won’t come out of your horn.”  Charlie Parker
