“All of these funds are a help but not a replacement for wages. “

JULIE CONDY, soprano, is the elected Board of Governors representative for New Orleans with the American Guild of Musical Artists (AGMA) and member of the AGMA National Executive Council.  She is a Loyola graduate (B.M.Ed.), who joined the opera chorus while an undergraduate. For several years, she studied voice in Salzburg, Austria before returning to New Orleans, where she founded Crescent City Lights Youth Theater, which ran for 25 years with Ms. Condy as executive/artistic director. As a chorister, she recently celebrated her 40th anniversary season with the New Orleans Opera.  A long-time member of the New Orleans Opera family, her proudest moments have been watching the children of the Crescent City Lights Youth Theater perform with the New Orleans Opera as a part of the children’s chorus and seeing their joy as the newest generation to revel in the great art form of grand opera.

She provided this update recently to Chorus Master, Carol Rausch:

Several of our AGMA members have received funds from the AGMA Relief Fund which is to help members in dire straits.  I do hope members apply.  Choristers have applied to the Jazz Fest fund and received assistance as well.  All of these funds are a help but not a replacement for wages.
