MADAME BUTTERFLY

ROLE TO BE CAST
Butterfly’s Child, “Dolore” – nonsinging role. Dolore is three years old and of mixed Japanese and American descent. Older children who are small of stature are strongly encouraged to audition, as well as children of other ethnicities. (Please see Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion statement)
REHEARSAL and PERFORMANCE INFORMATION
Staging rehearsals begin March 6, 2023
Performances are March 24 and 26, 2023
All rehearsals through March 17, 2023 will take place afternoons, evenings, and weekends.
All rehearsals and performances March 19-26, 2023 will be late evenings, with the exception of the March 26, 2023 closing matinee.
Please note: This is a paid opportunity. New Orleans Opera is considering local actors from the Greater New Orleans area only at this time.

Auditions are by appointment only. Please send an email with full body photo and child’s height to hr@neworleansopera.org. You will be notified by December 22, 2022 if you have been granted an audition.
REQUIREMENTS
During the audition, the children will be asked to move and follow directions. They will also experience operatic voices at full volume to test their reaction to this experience. Children should wear clothing and shoes that they can be comfortable moving in.

VACCINATION POLICY
New Orleans Opera has implemented a mandatory COVID vaccination policy, which requires employees and independent contractors to be fully vaccinated (including boosters) against COVID to perform work for the company beginning September 7, 2021. Within 24 hours of accepting an offer of employment with New Orleans Opera, individuals must submit proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID. If proof of vaccination is not provided, the offer of employment will be withdrawn. Individuals receiving an offer of employment from New Orleans Opera will be provided the full text of the vaccination policy.
