Ticket Policy

Refunds

Ticket sales are final and there are no refunds. Cast, programs, prices and schedules are subject to change. If you can’t use your tickets, please consider exchanging, donating or giving them to friends and family.

Exchanges for Mainstage Operas

Can’t make your performance? Call or visit the Box Office to exchange your tickets into another performance during the same season for $5 per ticket plus any additional ticket cost. Exchanges can be made up to two hours before the performance. All exchanges are subject to availability and any price differential applies. Subscribers are not charged an exchange fee.

Donations

Unable to use or exchange your tickets? Call the Box Office at (504) 529-3000 at least 10 minutes before the performance to return tickets for a tax-deductible donation.

Lost Tickets

Misplace your tickets? Call or visit the Box Office and we’ll gladly issue reprints. If you received these tickets as a gift, please have the purchaser call the Box Office so they can release the tickets to you.

Late Seating

As a courtesy to artists and patrons, ticket holders who arrive after the performance begins will not be seated until the first intermission. 

Ticket Fees

There is a non-fundable Mahalia Jackson Theater facility fee of $3.90 per ticket added to each order. There are no handling or service fees applied to ticket purchases.

Theater Security Policy

SECURITY/BAG CHECK POLICY

In order to create a safe, enjoyable experience for all our guests, the Ambassador Theatre Group has implemented the following security policies:

All Guests Are Subject to Search
Anyone entering the Mahalia Jackson Theatre is subject to a reasonable search including but not limited to bag search, wands and pat-downs. The Mahalia Jackson Theatre also reserves the right to inspect personal belongings of a suspicious nature. This includes, but is not limited to bags, purses, coats and hats. Any bags larger than 13 5/8” by 15 ¼” are not permitted.

In the event that prohibited items are revealed during a search, the guest will be permitted to return to their vehicle with the item or the item will be confiscated or disposed of properly. The staff will not safeguard any personal belongings or items of any type.

The following items are prohibited in the theater:

  • Bags larger than 13 5/8” by 15 ¼”
  • Backpacks
  • Knives
  • Firearms (permitted or not) or weapons of any kind
  • Video or audio recorders, I-pads, tablets or lap-computers
  • Professional quality camera equipment
  • Selfie sticks/poles
  • Glass, plastic or metal containers
  • Coolers
  • Food, except for certain medical conditions
  • Illegal drugs or substances
  • Strollers or baby seats
  • Folding chairs
  • Laser pointers
  • Fireworks
  • Noise makers or horns
  • Balloons and streamers
  • Signs, posters, banners or flags
  • Parcels, packages or any items the contents of which are not displayed
  • Gifts of any kind for the entertainer(s)

The Mahalia Jackson Theatre reserves the right to restrict any other items that could pose a safety hazard or restrict the enjoyment of another guest.

The Best Seats at the Best Prices 

Renewing subscribers have access to the Early Bird Subscription pricing and afterwards receive up to 20% off the cost of the season’s productions; new subscribers receive 10%.   

Interest-Free Payment Plans  

During the renewal period, subscribers can utilize one of our payment plans, dividing your total into a maximum of four installments.  

Single Ticket Discount  

Season subscribers may purchase additional tickets at 15% off the regular single ticket price.  You must identify yourself as a subscriber at the time of the purchase. 

Easy, Flexible, FREE Ticket Exchanges 

If you are unable to attend a performance on your regular subscription day, you may exchange the ticket, prior to the performance, for a comparable ticket on the other evening.  

Replacement of Lost Tickets 

Receive complimentary ticket replacement.
