At the Mahalia Jackson Theater for the Performing Arts

Puccini’s most famous opera returns to the New Orleans Opera stage after a hiatus of 8 years.  Premiered in 1896, this opera has become one of the most beloved titles in the operatic canon, inspiring two Broadway adaptations:  Jonathan Larson’s Rent and Baz Luhrmann’s 2002 Bohème on Broadway.  This is a tale of two young lovers, Rodolfo and Mimi. We fall in love and are heartbroken alongside them as their story unfolds to some of the most beautiful music ever written. Sung in Italian, this production will be directed by Fenlon Lamb and conducted by Joseph Colaneri, whose credits include multiple appearances at the Metropolitan Opera in addition to his position as Music Director for the Glimmerglass Festival in upstate New York.
