Wood Competition Winner Joins the Lyric Opera of Chicago

Soprano Lindsey Reynolds, 2015 winner of the Donald W. Wood Sr. Vocal Competition was recently accepted into the Lyric Opera of Chicago’s Young Artist Program. Last spring, more than 600 singers applied for consideration with video recordings and, after review, more than 30 were invited to Chicago for live auditions. Past Wood Competition Winners Continue to Succeed

Mezzo-soprano Julia Ernst, 2019 winner of the Wood Competition, a student at Loyola University New Orleans, and a native of Mandeville, LA, placed first in the Midwest Semifinals of the Music International Grand Prix Competition. The Music International Grand Prix Competition is a new international competition for musicians of all ages from all over the world: Asia, Europe, Australia, Canada, and the US. Read more about Julia here.

Olivia Gray, 2017 winner of the Wood Competition, was also a semi-finalist in the Midwest division of the Music International Grand Prix Competition. She is currently attending Mannes School of Music in New York, NY.

The Donald W. Wood Sr. Vocal Competition is a collaborative effort with Loyola University of New Orleans – College of Music and Fine Arts and Preparatory Program, Newcomb Department of Music, Tulane University, and the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts.

The deadline to apply to the 2021-2022 Wood Competition is November 8th.
Any Louisiana high school Sophomore, Junior, or Senior
vocalist in the academic year of 2021-2022 may apply.
