New Orleans is America’s “First City of Opera”, having premiered the first staged production in the country in 1796. But few may realize that modern carnival balls and the Krewes of the Crescent were born out of evenings spent at the French Opera House. From the very beginning, opera and Mardi Gras have been intertwined!
Reflecting that history, the New Orleans Opera is hosting the first event of Washington D.C. Mardi Gras on Thursday, January 23 at 11:30 AM.
Featuring a performance by illustrious Louisianian soprano Cadie J. Bryan over a classic Franco-Creole luncheon, and hosting some of our nation’s foremost political leaders, this is a Carnival-Opera event not to be missed. 100% of these ticket sales will benefit the New Orleans Opera (suggested donation of $350 per person, $2500 for a table of 8).
