What is Sylvain Society?
Sylvain Society is the young professionals affiliate group of the New Orleans Opera Association. Established in 2017, our purpose is to connect the operatic arts to the Greater New Orleans community.
Join us for cultural events around the city, discounts on opera performances, and educational fundraising endeavors to support opera education.
Membership is free and open to anyone age 21-45.
Sylvain Society’s name is an ode to André Grétry’s “Sylvain” opera, the first documented opera performed in New Orleans at the Theatre de la Rue Saint Pierre on May 22, 1796.
